A viral video was posted to Twitter over the weekend of a man who asked a woman in Central Park to put her dog on a leash. Take a look at the twitter video below, posted by the man’s sister.

Christian Cooper is a bird-watcher in Central Park, during his watch is when he saw a woman whose dog wasn’t on a leash. The park has specific rules about dogs having to be on a leash. He asked her to put her dog on the leash and she can be heard saying to the police that “there’s an African American man threatening my life”.

She called the police on him claiming that he was threatening her and her dog. The video was uploaded to Christian’s Facebook page, and also uploaded to his sister’s twitter account. It has since then gained more than 30 million views.

We all know the power of social media is REAL!!! It didn’t take the internet long to find out who the woman was in the video, her name and where she worked. People even found out that her dog was adopted yall. The woman in the video was identified as Amy Cooper. Oddly enough, she has the same last name as her victim.

Amy Cooper who worked for Franklin Templeton has since then been terminated from her job since the viral incident. They released an official statement on their twitter before they actually terminated her. Both statements can be found below:

In the video the woman can be seen basically choking the dog with the leash due to her carelessness. Come to find out the dog had been adopted from Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue, Inc and they released a statement on their Facebook page.  Amy voluntarily surrendered her dog back to the company. Their full statement can be found below.

Amy told CNN that the video has ruined her life. In a statement that can be seen below, Amy mentions that she sincerely and humbly apologizes to everyone for her actions. She especially wanted to apologize to Christian and his family. At this point, Amy just needs to be charged with making a false police report. Calling the police on a black person can be very deadly in America. This is NOT ok, and we the people are not satisfied with her just being fired. What are yall thoughts?
