Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor suffered a punctured lung at the hands of a team doctor.
The Chargers QB was scheduled to start in this past Sunday’s game, after suffering 2 cracked ribs in the teams win in week 1 of this season.
He was receiving a pain-killing injection right before kickoff when the shot punctured his lung and caused him to miss the game.
The administering of such a shot is not uncommon in the NFL but is known to carry risk. The risk is due to the “blind” nature of the shot entering the body.
However, a punctured lung is not a frequent result of the shot. Taylor is said to be okay and make a full recovery and will resume his starting duties upon his return.
