* SPOILER ALERT * PLEASE NOTE THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS POWER SEASON 6 SPOILERS !!!!!
As the final season of Power wrapped up on February 9, 2020, Power Fans finally discovered ‘Who Shot Ghost?’ Season 6 took us on a very emotional roller coaster.
What happened in Season 6?
In season 6, Ghost and Tommy both had incentives to turn against each other with Ghost making it his mission to get revenge for Angela and kill his best friend of 25 years. Ghost attempts to kill Tommy and even continues to think he’s dead until he spots him at Angie’s funeral.
It isn’t until Tariq gets himself in trouble that the two somewhat put their differences aside to get him back from Vincent.
Tasha opened up a daycare and met Quentin, her new love interest. Tasha was left no choice but to murder her former best friend LaKeisha to protect her son, Tariq. The mystery over Terry Silver’s disappearance was finally solved as Tasha led Saxe and Rodriguez to his body.
Meanwhile, Tariq was selling pills that he stole from Tommy at his new boarding school. He made friends with Effie who appeared to be helping him sell the pills, but ended up being his competition. Effie snitched on Tariq getting him expelled from Choate. Tariq got himself into deep trouble with Vincent after he found out he was shorting his product.
Fast forward to the mid season finale! It seemed as though Ghost was finally starting to put his life as Ghost behind him. He had a new love interest, Ramona and his future political career looked hopeful. Everything quickly changed for Ghost as he pissed off every key important person in his life. Tasha, Tommy, Tariq, Paz, Saxe, Tate and Dre can all be seen walking towards Truth nightclub at the same time.
A gunshot was heard and Ghost was shot in the chest and fell to the ground from the balcony.
The last five episodes of the season revealed each suspects point of view from that day. This left fans playing detective to find out who really shot Ghost.
Although Power creator Courtney Kemp made it very clear that the only suspects for shooting Ghost were the 7 seen walking to Truth, fans were more than convinced that Ramona somehow was the shooter.
Of course we can’t forget about the famous debate that took over social media for days “Let Him Go vs Let Her Go”
WHO SHOT GHOST?
During the season finale of Power, it was revealed that Tariq St. Patrick, Ghost and Tasha’s only son, was the person to pull the trigger and shoot his father in the chest, causing him to fall over the nightclub balcony and later die. Ghost didn’t leave Tasha anything in his will. Tariq will inherit his fathers money, but only after one stipulation…; he must attend a 4 year college and graduate with a 3.5 gpa or higher. Tasha quickly gets Tariq enrolled into Simon’s Alma Mater. After thinking they had everything figured all out, Blanca arrested Tasha for the murder of her husband James St Patrick. Although, we know Tariq was the real shooter, Tasha attempted to frame Q for the murder. Q out smarted Tasha by giving himself an alibi during the time of the murder. During the last scene, Tasha is seen taking off her wig and eye lashes as she is being booked for prison, at the same time Tariq is being enrolled in school on his first day. So what is next? We are sure to find out during Power Book 2: Ghost !
Power Book II: Ghost
Power Book II: Ghost will air Sunday June 7, 2020 at 8pm. Alongside already confirmed characters Davis Maclean (Smith) and Monet (Blige), the Power Book II promo revealed which three characters from Power would be leading the cast of the spin-off. As hinted in the Power series finale, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) and Tasha (Naturi Naughton) will both be back. More surprisingly, however, also returning is Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson), returning to his role in the district attorney’s office after the events of the last episode of Power. The official Starz synopsis for the sequel reads: “Power Book II: Ghost will pick up the narrative just days after the Power finale. The sequel then follows Tariq navigating his new life, in which his desire to shed his father’s legacy comes up against the mounting pressure to save his family.”
Power Book III,IV, & V
Power Book III: Raising Kanan, will take place in 1990. It will be a prequel spin-off that will follow the early years of Kanan Stark that was portrayed by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Power Book IV: Influence, will be a series that is centered around Councilman Tate. We can only imagine that this will have a lot to do with the Tate campaign. Power Book V: Force, will be all about Tommy and his new life in California, as he leaves his old life in New York in the rear view of his mustang. There have not been many updates on cast for all the spin-offs or official release dates. However, fans shouldn’t expect much more until 2021.
