Timberland and Swizz Beatz’s creation of the IG live ‘Verzuz’ battles was innovative. Two legends going head-to-head to see who has better hit songs has been nothing less than entertaining. ‘Verzuz’ has brought nostalgia to fans since the world has been on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the recent successes of Teddy Riley and Babyface, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu, fans are wanting more but this time, with Monica and Brandy!
To the fans who want to see this battle, I have some good news and bad news. The good news is that both Monica and Brandy do like the idea of being featured on Verzuz. The bad news, however, do not expect it to happen anytime soon. While they like the idea, there is great hesitation on both ends to do it. Monica recently sat down with an Atlanta radio station, V-103, and discussed what it would take to get her involved with the battle. “If the IG live session was more about honoring our music, it would make more sense to me”, the singer said. Monica has “no interest” in the battle if it is just going to put them against each other, something she has been dealing with for the past 20 plus years.
Brandy was interviewed by Essence about a possible Verzuz battle with Monica. She did not seem too much interested as well, but she is open to it. The “I Wanna Be Down” singer responded by saying, “I really can’t see myself doing that. I’m open to it but I haven’t really thought about it. That would be kind of weird who would play “The Boy Is Mine?… I don’t know, I’m open for sure. I’m not closed-minded.”
Whose side will you be on if they went head-to-head?
