The Major League Baseball Players Association reached an agreement with league owners/officials and announced Tuesday that a shortened season will happen and begin starting either July 23 or 24. Players are expected to report for training starting July 1.
According to the agreement, all necessary COVID-19 precautions will be taken, teams will practice in their home cities, most games will consist of divisional play, and the amount of cross league play will be minimal. All of these stipulations are meant to keep traveling on a limited basis. Also, the games will be played in empty stadiums. This marks the first time such games will take place since 2015.
