It has been 5 years since the last Justin Bieber album. In that span, JB has been through some life altering changes. Changes like battling a few health issues, to settling down and getting married to Hailey Baldwin in 2018. JB did not completely deprive us from music, as he has been featured on a few multi platinum singles, 2 of which have gone number 1 on billboard hot 100, those being Luis Fonsi’s ‘Despacito (remix)’ and Dj Khaled’s ‘I’m The One’.

On January 3rd 2020, he released the first single off his new album, ‘Yummy’. While critics were not so nice to the lead off single, it did however debut at number 2 on the billboard hot 100. ‘Yummy’ is a fun song to listen to, which as a catchy hook to go along with it. The song is alright with me!

Now to the actual album itself, ‘Changes’ was appropriately released on valentines day 2020. Before listening, If I would have based the album off the lead single ‘yummy’ I would assume the album would have been full of playful, and flirtatious tracks, my assumption, however, was a bit off. Do not get me wrong, ‘Changes’ provide those elements with tracks like ‘Running Over’ featuring Lil Dicky and ‘ETA’.

‘Changes’ to me, seems like an admission from JB that he has been through situations that has transformed him and caused him to mature, not only has a person but as an artist as well. His marriage may have played a big part in his growth as many of the songs on he album are obviously dedicated to wife, Hailey.

All in all, ‘Changes’ is a good album. There was not a track that I personally wanted to skip. ’Changes’ may have been worth the 5 year wait but we will see how the album ages in the future. My favorite tracks on the album are Forever featuring Post Malone and Clever, Intentions (although this track would have been just fine without Quavo’s verse), Yummy, and Come Around Me. My final rating for this album after listening a few times, solid 7/10.
