Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris and their spouses released their 2019 tax returns. The release happened less than 48 hours after The New York Times released a report on Sunday. The report alleges that President Donald Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017. President Trump also did not pay taxes in the previous 10 out of 15 years. Trump’s taxes also show he claimed a $72.9 million refund. The claim is currently the subject of an IRS Audit.
Former Vice President Joe Biden and Jill Biden paid about $300,000 in taxes with an adjusted gross income of around $985,000. California Senator Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, paid around $1.2 million in taxes and with an adjusted gross income of about $3 million.
Kate Bedingfield, Biden deputy campaign manager, said to reporters on Tuesday.
This is a historic level of transparency and it will give the American people faith once again that their leaders will look out for them and not their own bottom line.
