Harris, former California State Attorney General, is the daughter on immigrants from Jamaica and India. She will be the first woman to hold the office of Vice President if elected in November. She has already made history as the first Black woman elected to the US senate from the state of California in 2016.
As the child of immigrants, she is known for pushing for protection from deportation of Dreamers. Dreamers are known as children who came into the country without documentation as children.
Often times in the senate she supports bills to help lower income families. She is known for asking the tough questions of appointees and officials from the Trump administration. Since being elected to the US Senate, she has been pushing for criminal justice reform. This reform includes of the infamous Crime-Act bill. Her stance on criminal justice reform has changed since her days as attorney general. She has seen criticism for her former role in the past due to her years of being a prosecutor enforcing those laws that impacted the African American community the most and sending many to prison. Although she enforced the laws during her time as prosecutor she was not responsible for passing these laws. This past continues to be a point on contention with some of her critics. These laws continue to be an issue across the nation of racial bias in the criminal justice system.

The Biden/Harris ticket will take on Trump/Pence in the presidential race on November 3rd, 2020. Many have deem this one of the most important elections in present times due to the division of the nation.
