A newborn baby girl was killed in Las Vegas this past Saturday (October 24) after she was allegedly thrown from the second story of a building by her father after a dispute with her mother.
According to her family, London Martin was 7 weeks old when she was killed Saturday morning just before 4 am. 32-year-old Clarence Martin Jr has been charged with open murder. In Nevada, a person accused of a homicide will generally be charged by the prosecutor with “open murder” – – meaning that they are charged with a general allegation of Murder, which includes each of the following types of homicide: First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter and Involuntary.
Martin allegedly got into a heated argument with his fiancée, London’s mother prior to throwing her 22 feet from the balcony. Officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance, and upon arrival they immediately discovered London and her mom Nicole Poole giving her CPR.
Baby London was rushed to a hospital nearby, where she was pronounced dead due to severe blunt force head trauma. According to reports, Martin left the scene as police were arriving.
Allegedly before leaving the scene, Martin set a fire inside of their apartment causing damage and leaving the family dog dead. Tea With Tia obtained a copy of Martin’s arrest report and London’s mother told police that Martin has a history of mental issues and hasn’t eaten or slept in days leading to the tragedy.
According to Poole, she and Martin have been together for 4 years. She also told police that she woke up Saturday morning to Martin kicking her and London as they slept. She alleged that she took London into the living room, but Martin allegedly followed her and took London from her.
Martin then allegedly stepped onto the balcony and tossed London over onto the concrete. Poole ran outside to see where her baby was when Martin didn’t return with her. A near by neighbor called 911.
There was a Go Fund Me page that was set up to assist the family with their financial needs. So far the page has collected $13,841 out of the $9,000 goal.
“Please, please pray for healing and strength for Nicole, and our entire family. Rest In Heaven our precious baby London. You will always hold a special place in all our hearts. You were treasured and loved before we even knew you sweet baby girl. Even if for only a short time, you were our beautiful little princess. Our hearts are completely broken. London was a happy, healthy baby girl!”
Police were able to catch up with Martin and arrest him. He was arrested at a nearby airport wearing a TSA security shirt. In addition to open murder, he was also charged with first-degree arson, torture of an animal and battery on a protected person.
Martin has not entered a plea as of yet to the crimes he is accused of committing. We will continue to update this story as more information become available. Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of baby London.
