On the 4th of July, a white couple was seen on video defacing a city-approved Black Lives Matter mural in Martinez, California.
Artists obtained a permit to create the mural on the street outside the Contra Costa County courthouse. The paint was still fresh when the couple decided to paint over the yellow letters of the mural about an hour after it was done.
The police were alerted by bystanders. Once the police were called the couple ran.
It appeared that the couple came to the mural with cans of paint and a roller with the specific purpose of vandalizing over the mural,” the Martinez Police Department stated.
The mural was fixed after the incident. The police is currently searching for the couple. this story will be updated.
